it shouldn't be a surprise that i have a taste for old black and white photographs
that are characterized by long exposures, blur, movement, and when interior architecture
becomes accompanying geometry. francesca woodman's self portraits as well as photographs
of others in forgotten places are some of the most beautiful yet haunting images i've come
across. the element that brings the eerie energy in her photos are quite subtle and simple but
very effective. her work is currently showing at the sfmoma. the exhibition is a retrospective of
francesca woodman's work from the 1970s. the young artist committed suicide at age 22.
